Pan Oceania - Guarda de Assalto

My first little mech for Infinity! He's supposed to have an antennae up the top, but when I has holding the model in my hand, I had no idea how I was going to attach it. Green-stuff would have resulted in an ugly lumpy bond, and the antennae itself was too small to pin. Well, I think he looks fine without it.

Pan Oceania - Shock Army Regulars

And here are the Regulars that are part of the Pan Oceania Army Shock Army Starter Box. I hate painting skin tones, but I think these came out alright. I actually have more Regulars as part of my Shock Army, so more to come!

Pan Oceania - Shock Army

So, after painting finishing up my Pan Oceania Military Orders army, I decided to paint through another Infinity faction. I opted for another faction within Pan Oceania, and went with the Shock Army of Acontecimento.

Here are the first three models of the boxset painted up. I know I usually paint up the grunts of each box first, but I was already used to painting up knights and heavy armour troops of my Military Orders - so I kept the ball rolling!

Bloodguard of Baal

I started this blog in October 2011, and it's now April in 2013 - so it's been about 18 months. I had originally started this blog with the intention of starting a 40K army (it was 5th edition at the time), and the name of this blog was a dead give away about what kind of army I would be starting!

I've had these guys painted for a while now, but haven't taken proper photos until now. So even though the army project fizzled out, I thought I'd share some photos anyway. I've got the rest of the army still sitting around on their sprues somewhere - I'm sure I'll get to it sooner or later.

Pan Oceania - Special Order Sergeant

This guy rounds off my Order Sergeants nicely. Very dynamically posed, with a Spitfire and two antennae instead of one... he sure is special!
And that's it for my initial Pan Oceania Military Orders army - 10 models, and over 300 points worth. I really like the aesthetic of the faction though, so I might consider collecting a few more just to paint and ad some diversity to my Pan Oceania Military Orders.

Gorkamorka - Random Orkz

Slugga & Choppa Boyz
I had the urge to paint some Orkz on the weekend. Not sure why, though it's probably because a mate from my FLGS mentioned Gorkamorka. Also, sometimes you just feel like painting some Orkz, you know? I had a look through the Gorkamorka rules (free to download online: Da Roolz, Da Uvver Book), picked out a bunch of Orkz from the old Assault on Black Reach set I had lying around, and painted me some greenskins.

Probably proxy these plebby Orkz for the Drivers
This little paint-up has brought me to the realisation that I want to paint some of the Avatars of War Orcs I have lying around - so more greenskins to come!

Infinity - Initial Thoughts

After my first few games of Infinity at the local club, I thought I'd share some of my initial game play impressions. Keep in mind that I'm only just starting out, and there are still a lot of concepts I haven't got a grip on yet!

Active and Reactive Turns

This is a great concept that I believe has been implemented well in Infinity, and opens up another dimension of tactical gameplay. Sometimes the best offence is a good defence, and positioning your troops for AROs and abilities like Suppression is the strong option... although charging in guns blazing is still cool.
I'm sure there is still so much depth to this format that I need to learn, but my initial thoughts are - AWESOME.

Infinity Specific Terrain

Currently, my FLGS has an abundance of Citadel 40K Terrain, which I have found difficult to use for Infinity. We had apply house rules (can't draw LOF through full windows) and at times balance models precariously to ensure they are in cover. If we hadn't blocked the numerous windows, AROs would have been flying all over the place, and it would have been near impossible to reach objectives. We also missed a fair few AROs, as we didn't realise that models actually had LOF to each other during activations because of all the skulls and pointy things sticking out of the buildings.
Luckily, with the growing Infinity community at the LGS, the owner has opted to buy up a bunch of the official Micro Art Studio stuff - which should make gameplay much more enjoyable.

Perfect for Infinity - geometrically shaped terrain pieces!

Laser Pointer!

With LOF being such an important factor in the game, having a Laser Pointer is mandatory. Even if it just used to settle disputes, anything that moves the game forward amicably is a necessity as far as I'm concerned. I got one before hitting the FLGS last night, and it was the most useful tool on the table! Well, maybe the tape measure came first.

I haven't been really excited about a system in while, and I'm really optimistic about how our little Infinity community is growing. More Infinity action to come!

DIY - Infinity Tokens and Templates

I spent some time over the weekend finishing off my Infinity Tokens and Templates set. It took a good while, probably a whole morning if done in a solid block, but I'm pretty happy with the results.

Find all the downloadable templates and tokens here!

To make the templates, I followed this simple process:
  1. Print out the templates onto paper
  2. Stick the paper onto cardboard (I used cereal box cardboard - it's slightly stronger than Manila folder cardboard) using double-sided sticky tape. I used the double-sided tape to prevent warping caused by using glue
  3. Cover the paper with some clear book contact
  4. Cut out the templates!

To make the tokens, I followed this simple process:
  1. Print out the tokens onto paper
  2. Cover the paper with some clear book contact
  3. Cut out the tokens
  4. Using double-sided sticky tape, I stuck the tokens onto some old Mantic 25mm round bases I had lying around (which I had prepared earlier by spraying black)

The official templates and tokens from Micro Art Studios are quite expensive, and making them myself saved me a bit of cash which I can now spend on more toy soldiers!
