They See Me Rollin'

Left: Black and Pink, Top: Opaque Pink, Bottom: Velvet Pink
I finally got my hands on what I plan to use as my new Warmachine/Hordes dice! Being a long time reader of 3++ is the new black, I snapped up the opportunity to score myself some of their official dice sets, and I'll be using these for all future Warmachine and Hordes games.

Previously I'd been using various sets from the Chessex 12mm range, which were a remnant from my short-lived excursions into WHFB, 40K and Kings of War.
For Warmachine and Hordes though, the maximum number of die I'll ever be rolling at a time is 4, so sets of 16mm die seemed a lot more practical. I'm really happy with the three sets of 4 I got from 3++, and can't wait to get them on the table!

Thanks Kirby!

Skorne - Morghoul

Morghoul has a really great assassin-like pose. Of the three warcasters/locks I've painted, his pose is the least commanding, but is instead aggressive and ready to strike. Not a leader to hide behind a warpack, Morghoul yearns to rend and flay his opponents with his own blades!

And that's my Skorne Warpack finished! I always forget to snap group photos, so I'll have to do that tomorrow.

Skorne - Titan Gladiator

I was up way past my bedtime last night finishing this model and snapping these photos. As I was painting him, I was doubtful about how he would turn out, in terms of colour distribution/balance - being a big old beast he doesn't have as much cloth and fatigues as the Cyclops Savages had. Looking at these pictures today though, I actually think he looks pretty good.

I opted for a darker skin tone, to contrast the dominant light bone colour of the armour, and thought that brown would tie in with the bone colour better than the traditional grey skin tone.

As I mentioned earlier, I'll be entering this model into the local club's painting competition. After seeing some of the other fantastic entries though, I'm doubtful I'll win - but as always, I'm just happy to have some fun and have a go!

Skorne - Cyclops Savage 2

Finished this guy off last night and managed to get a good start on my Titan Gladiator. I think it's pretty cool that the Warpack comes with two variants for the Cyclops Savage - this one has the weapon lowered while the first Savage has the weapon raised. This should make it easier to keep track of which is which during play!

I just checked my Trollbloods Warpack box, and was a little disappointed to see the two Troll Impalers in the box are the same model, and not variants like in the Skorne Warpack!

Skorne - Cyclops Savage 1

The colour scheme I had in mind for my desert themed Skorne was 'Blood and Bone' - using a dark, gore-like red (Skorne Red, with a few Blood Red highlights) for the cloth and fatigues, and the look of armour crafted out of bone.

I'm really happy with how my planned colour scheme turned out. I had originally started with more metal pieces of armour, but ended up going over them with bone after the dark metal (Pig Iron) looked too imposing.

Skorne - Warpack Undercoated

Had a nice little break from army painting, and now it's time to get back into the groove, starting with my Skorne Warpack.
I think I've decided on a colour scheme, but will have to test it out on one of Cyclops Savages first. For now, here is the Skorne Warpack, assembled and ready for painting during the week.

It was pretty tough getting the Cyclops Savages' arms to line up when assembling, and it was a pain getting the Titan Gladiator assembled as well... I HATE assembling metal models! I've now decided to hold off purchasing any more Hordes Warpacks until Privateer Press make them in plastic!
